Robby Vee's talent, creativity and perseverance as a singer/guitarist/songwriter has captured the attention of audiences and respected industry professionals worldwide for more than a decade. He has shared credits and stages with the architects and legends of rock 'n' roll, such as Little Richard, The Everly Brothers, Carl Perkins, Sir Paul McCartney, Dion, The Righteous Brothers, Prince, and many more.
Playing concerts from the Seattle King Dome and the Fiddler's Green in Denver to the London Palladium, and all points in between, Robby Vee is constantly touring - performing at roadhouses, street dances, clubs, ballrooms, theaters, casinos, state fairs, festivals, and sports centers across the United States and the world. His career has also taken him on tour to the Far East, as well as on 4 tours of Australia and 8 tours of the UK. And they have included invitations to appear at Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber's 50th birthday celebration, his world-renowned Sydmonton festival, and performances with Sir Paul McCartney in both New York and London at his "Buddy Holly Festivals."
Robby Bryon Vee hails from one of popular music's most hallowed legacies - the rock 'n' roll family. Named after his father, Bobby Vee, and family friend, Brian Hyland, both legendary 60s rockers, he's been steeped in rock's timeless traditions of pop, swing, rockabilly and bop. Robby learned and has been inspired by some of the masters of guitar, including Carl Perkins, James Burton, and Albert Lee in casual, yet intimate back-stage settings. He has also played guitar for "Dick Clark's Caravan of Stars" rock 'n' roll shows and also with performers such as the Shirelles, Tommy Roe, Ben E. King, Freddie 'BOOM BOOM' Cannon, Buddy Knox, Bo Diddley and many other pioneers of rock 'n' roll and pop music - so many, in fact, that it reads like a Billboard's Top 40 book!
The Vees, consisting of brothers Robby, Tommy, and Jeff Vee, performed together since grade school. As the lead singer and guitarist, Robby toured with them in support of their six record releases, including their most recent CD release, "Knock Yourself Out." The Vees also backed their father on tour, and just about every other living legend from the 50s and 60s on numerous rock 'n' roll shows around the globe. They appeared in the movie "Catch Me If You Can" and wrote two songs featured in the movie "Don't Let Go." Robby has appeared on four of his father's records, including a live album recorded by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber at the London Palladium. He also appeared alongside his father and the Crickets on a Crickets tribute album which included many artists such as Eric Clapton, Johnny Rivers, and the late Waylon Jennings. Most recently, Robby has recorded with Rolling Stones guitarist, Ronnie Wood, at his London home studio.
"These guys could play on any stage"...Sir Paul McCartney
"These guys rock...A wickedly good band"...Ronnie Wood of the Rolling Stones
"Great band, great show"...Robert Plant of Led Zepplin
"Liquid Love" is Robby Vee's most recent project. It is a collection of self-penned songs and co-writes with some of his favorite writers, including Grammy award winning songwriters Wayne Carson (best known for writing "You Were Always On My Mind" and "The Letter"), Sir Tim Rice (best known for his works, "Jesus Christ Superstar," "Evita," and his Disney pop collaborations with Elton John on "The Lion King" and, most recently, "Aida"), 'Guitar Slinger' Ronnie Wood (who's recording, "Gimme Some Neck," was the first record Robby remembers owning), 'Rocker' Freddie Cannon, and movie soundtrack writer and guitarist, Waddy Wachtell (who co-wrote "Werewolves of London" with Warren Zevon). Also lending their talents are Steve Farris from Mister Mister and CJ Vanston, best known for his work with the group, N-SYNC.
The song "Champagne Lane," produced by Greg Ladanyi from the "Liquid Love" project, caught Greg's attention. He said, "It tells a story much like 'The Sunset Grill' did, a song I recorded with Don Henley, and one of my favorites." Greg Ladanyi, a Grammy award winning producer/engineer, is best known for his work with singer/songwriters. Artists he's most noted for working with are: Jackson Browne, Don Henley, Warren Zevon, and recently, Pat Green. The "Liquid Love" project has been a shared vision between Greg Ladanyi and Robby Vee since Robby's signing to True Wave Entertainment, Ladanyi's artist development company.
"Writing has been a favorite passion of mine, just like painting. I've been a painter my entire life and, to me, writing feels like painting with an imaginary canvas. I take the same creative process into my songs - performance and recording." Robby Vee, 2002.
